Problem
The 4RE uses a standard watch, or coin, battery to keep the system date and time correct. As with all batteries, it will discharge and eventually need replacing.
Solution
Tools needed to replace the clock battery:
- 1/16 Allen wrench
- Key to open the USB door
- Small pointed device (toothpick, small screwdriver)
The battery used is a 3-volt Lithium battery (CR1225)
The battery is located beneath the USB port door
- Turn OFF the 4RE system
- Using the key, open the USB door
- Leave the USB carrier assembly arm inside (or push it back in)
- Using the 1/16 Allen wrench, remove the two (2) screws that attach the metal cover
- Locate the depleted clock battery
- Remove the clock battery with the small pointed object
- Insert the new clock battery with the positive (+) side up
- Positive side is slightly larger
- Replace the metal cover, the foam placed so that it covers the battery
- Using the 1/16 Allen wrench, replace the two (2) screws that attach the metal cover
- Turn ON the 4RE system
- In Menu > Settings > Date/Time, set the correct time
- If GPS is enabled, this will update the time automatically
