Problem
The USB usage meter does not appear on the 4RE display.
Solution
Summary
There are multiple reasons for this behavior, and each one has different solutions.
Details
- The USB usage meter is disabled in the configuration.
- In Evidence Library or Evidence Library Express, check the 4RE configuration for the option to display the USB usage meter.
- The USB flash drive may be corrupt.
- Try to format the USB flash drive using either:
- A Windows PC; format with the FAT32 file system
- The 4RE DVR; Menu > Settings > Diagnose > Format USB
- Try to format the USB flash drive using either:
- The 4RE may be displaying Error 15 or Error 16
- See this article for addressing this issue.
Formatting the USB flash drive will erase all data on it; no data from the 4RE has been lost - it is still on the internal hard drive.
Windows will natively format FAT32 to a maximum of 32GB. Windows will not show the FAT32 option for larger capacity USB flash drives. There are free utilities to be found online to format larger USB flash drives to FAT32.
