Problem
A powered-on DV-1 unit has blank LCD display screen, but the display's backlight is visible.
Solution
Summary
Check for responses from the buttons. Perform a front-panel reset.
Details
- Try to press a button on the screen and verify that the screen saver is not active
- Screen Saver is a new feature of the 6.0 software
- You can access the options by selecting: Display -> Screen Saver
- Turn off the unit and unplug the cabin mic
- (The cabin microphone is NOT hot swappable, meaning the unit needs to be turned OFF before unplugging or plugging in the cabin microphone)
- Ensure the unit is turned off when unplugging the cabin mic
- Boot the system without the cabin microphone
- Some other symptoms seen when cabin microphone is not seated properly:
- Flickering screen
- Blue screen
- Gray screen
Advanced Troubleshooting Option - Front Panel Reset
- Remove the six (6) screws securing the panel: 1/16-in. hex-head
- Open the drive door
- Remove 3 cables holding the front panel to the DV-1
- Ribbon cable (about 1.5 inches)
- Speaker wire (woofer)
- Speaker wire (tweeter)
- Remove a small white ribbon cable (1/2 inch) connected internally on the front panel
- Reseat the small white ribbon cable (This performs the reset)
- Leave the larger ribbon cable and speaker wires unplugged for 10 minutes
- Plug the cables back in and make sure both ends of each are securely attached
- Replace the six (6) screws that secure the front panel
