Question
Is it possible to view video without Evidence Library?
Answer
Normally, video from a device (4RE or VISTA) must be imported to Evidence Library before playing. A single event originates as multiple .ts files on the device, but the import process combines these files and converts them to a single file in .mp4 format.
The .ts files can be viewed by video playback applications such as VLC.
The .mp4 format file is used by default when exporting an event from Evidence Library. This file can also be found in the final storage location. You can find the file in final storage using the method in this article. These .mp4 files can be played in standard video playback applications like Windows Media Player and VLC.
NOTE: If the 4RE configuration is set to Enable USB Security, the files on the removable USB flash drive are encrypted and can be played only after import to Evidence Library.
