ERROR 1 - ISSUE WRITING TO DVD
Message
There has been a problem writing to this DVD.
No video has been lost.
When ready, press RESET to restart the system and retry writing to the DVD.
Description
This message appears the first time the DV-1 cannot write to a specific physical location on the DVD. This is most likely caused by a defect in the media. The defect may be permanent (some percentage of DVDs are manufactured poorly or the DVD has been damaged in some way), or the defect may be temporary (a particle of dust or debris on the media). If the defect is permanent, an error #2 is likely to follow.
Resolution/Workaround
Follow the instructions on the screen. Video is still being recorded to the hard drive buffer in the system, so wait until the recording event is complete before pressing the RESET button on the screen. Once the RESET button is pressed, the system will reboot and retry writing to the DVD. Most of the time, the retry will succeed and the DV-1 will continue to record the remainder of the event to the DVD without any problems.
ERROR 2 - DVD WRITE ERROR
Message
The system cannot write any further to this DVD.
Press RESET to restart the system.
When the system restarts,
Step 1: Wait for the DVD to eject.
Step 2: Insert a new DVD.
The last chapter will be added to the next DVD. No video will be lost.
Description
This message appears the second time the DV-1 cannot write to a specific physical location on the DVD. This is most likely caused by a permanent defect in the media. Permanent defects are the result of poorly manufactured DVDs or damaged/scratched DVDs. Once this error occurs, the DVD can no longer be written by the DV-1. It must be removed from the system and replaced with a new DVD. All the recordings except the last one should still be on the DVD. The last recording (the one that was being written when the error occurred) will be written to the next (i.e. new) DVD.
Resolution/Workaround
Follow the instructions on the screen. Video is still being recorded to the hard drive buffer in the system, so wait until the recording event is complete before pressing the RESET button on the screen. Once the RESET button is pressed, the system will reboot and eject the DVD automatically. Once the DVD ejects, insert a new DVD. The last chapter (the one that was being written when the error occurred) will be written to the new DVD.
