Objective
Use this tool to merge the audio from a VISTA event with the video streams of a 4RE event. The result is one or more playable MP4 video files.
The 4RE event and VISTA event must contain overlapping date and time.
Procedure
Step 1: Install the tool
- Download the Synchronized Export tool onto a local workstation (find it here)
- Unzip the file and open the unzipped folder
- Double-click on the downloaded file: SynchronizedExport_v1.4.exe
- Click "Yes" when Windows User Account Control asks if you want to run this program
- The default installation location is C:\Program Files (x86)\WatchGuard Video\Synchronized Export
- Click on Install and then click Close when the dialog says Completed
Step 2: Create a working folder
- Using Windows File Explorer, create a folder to contain the events you want to synchronize
- Note the folder name and location (for example: C:\MakeSyncedVideo)
Step 3: Export event(s)
- Using Evidence Library or Evidence Library Express (ELX was used for these images), select and export the two events you want to synchronize to the folder you created in the previous step
- One event should be from a 4RE and the other from be a VISTA event that contains the desired audio
- Be sure to use the folder you created previously as the Destination
Step 4: Open the export in the Synchronized Export tool
- Using Windows File Explorer, navigate to the folder where you exported the event
- Locate the WatchGuard video player file
- That file will have, if visible, the file extension .wgplayer, or Windows will show its Type as WGPLAYER File
- That file will have, if visible, the file extension .wgplayer, or Windows will show its Type as WGPLAYER File
- Right click on that file and click Open With...
- Then pick the choice SynchronizedExport.exe from the list
- If it doesn't show up, you may have to
- Select More Apps
- Scroll to the bottom
- Select Look for another app on this PC
- In the Open with... dialog
- Browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\WatchGuard Video\Synchronized Export
- Select SynchronizedExport.exe
- Select Open
- Once you've done this process, the .wgplayer filetype is registered in Windows and double-clicking this file from any future export will automatically open it in the Synchronized Export tool
- That file should now have the WatchGuard logo
- That file should now have the WatchGuard logo
Step 5: Use the Synchronized Export tool
- The tool dialog box opens and displays the names of the exported video files and the one audio file
- Click the Export button
- When the export is complete, select Done
Step 6: Play the exported video(s)
- Your working folder will now contain one or more new MP4 files
- Open and play the new MP4 file(s) in your video player of choice to watch the videos with synced audio
