Preparation
- Verify the version of Evidence Library Express (ELX) currently installed on the workstation to be upgraded (version 3.5.0.1098 or greater)
You can verify the ELX version by launching ELX and then clicking on HELP > ABOUT
- Ensure you have available the software installer (EvidenceLibraryExpress.exe) for this version in case you need to re-install ELX after the Windows upgrade
- Backup of the Repository
- Make an external backup (USB flash drive or network location) of the Repository folder at
C:\WatchguardVideo
If the storage location is an external drive or network location, this is unnecessary
- Make an external backup (USB flash drive or network location) of the Repository folder at
- Backup internal Event video storage (if needed)
- If external or a network location, document the drive letter assigned by Windows
- If an external drive, safely eject the drive
- Now that you have backed up the Repository folder and your Event video storage location (if local), you should be able to proceed with your Windows 10 upgrade
- Once the Windows 10 upgrade is complete, attempt to launch ELX
Troubleshooting
- If ELX does not launch, contact WatchGuard Customer Support at (800) 605-6734
- Select the option for Evidence Library Express
- Be prepared with the ELX version and the log file
- The ELX log file is usually located at C:\WatchGuardVideo\Logs
- Customer Support may suggest re-installing ELX
- In Windows Settings > Apps and Features, uninstall:
- WatchGuard Video Evidence Library Express
- WatchGuard Vista Camera Drivers
- Then open RegEdit and look for the ELX entry:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\WatchGuard Video\Evidence Library Express
If that entry is still there after uninstalling ELX then select File > Export and save a backup of your Registry.
Then delete the Evidence Library Express entry by right-clicking on it and selecting Delete. - Close RegEdit
- In Windows Settings > Apps and Features, uninstall:
- Install ELX
- Right-click the installer EvidenceLibraryExpress.exe and choose Run as Administrator and follow the installation wizard
- Launch ELX
- If successful, then close ELX using File > Exit
- Copy the Repository folder that you saved previously into C:\WatchGuardVideo, replacing the one created by the installer
- If you're using external storage, connect it and ensure Windows assigned it the same drive letter as before (USB flash drive or network location)
- Launch ELX again
- If there are errors, contact Customer Support
- Provide details of the errors
- Be prepared to provide the new log file to the support representative
Please know that upgrades to Windows 10 may force a complete re-install or upgrade of the ELX software and re-import of all previous video before full functionality can be restored.
